About the Comic
Trans Girl Diaries is a webcomic about transsexuals. Sometimes it’s gag strips, other times it’s storyline comics. If you don’t know some of the terms and shit that come up throughout, you might want to consult below.
Terms to Know
Transsexual – Transsexuals feel like they were born in the wrong body – men feel like women, women feel like men. They usually get laughed at and called he/she/its by the general public and treated like freakshows. Despite this, they will usually claim they really are men or women in face of all the assholes laughing at them.
Transgender – A general term used for all people who don’t conform to society’s standards of what a good man or woman is supposed to be. It’s not a verb however, so saying that someone is ‘transgendering’ for example sounds ridiculous. Transsexuals are often confused for other people under the transgender umbrella, such as crossdressers.
MtF – Male to female transsexual. They are the most visible, and often seen as men in dresses who are trying to deceive people into thinking they’re women.
FtM – Female to male transsexual. Unlike trans women, they are usually invisible to society at large, unless they have a baby or have famous celebrity parents. Some trans women envy them and consider trans men to be lucky ladies who are ruining and destroying their body by transitioning to be a man (oh no!).
FFS – Facial feminization surgery – A great surgery that can turn a man face into a woman’s. Failing to sound female however, makes the benefit of this surgery null.
Orchiectomy – Another term for castration – where a hysterectomy removes the uterus, an orchiectomy removes the testicles. It’s also very fucking painful, although probably nowhere near as much as a hysterectomy.
SRS – Sexual reassignment surgery, or GRS (Gender reassignment surgery). Considered the holy grail of transition, the ‘sex change’ that makes a man or woman. People get really really funny about this surgery and often believe it’s what makes the man or woman. Trans people who do not get this surgery are called ‘non-ops’, though here and there, a few people are inclined to call them ‘shemale’ instead.
Tranny – A derogatory term for trans people. If you are not trans and you call a trans person tranny, you will likely get a lecture about how calling a trans person the T word is like calling a black person the N word. It’s not a recommended word of use, generally.
Shemale – An even more derogatory term. Often used for porn stars. Sometimes used to dismiss a trans person who doesn’t want to get SRS! Other times used to describe any trans person.
Cis – People who aren’t trans, which is the majority of the human population. Sometimes ‘cissexual’ and ‘cisgender’ is used. Some trans people believe that getting SRS makes them cis and not trans anymore. Others believe that being cis is boring and makes you a terrible person.

The author, Evelyn Poor once took in another writer/editor to help with the comic. It was a disaster. Her name was Christen Eleven. She will be… remembered… yes… remembered.. but not fondly.
